Raiatea and Tahaa are enclosed in the same lagoon, about 200km (125 miles) from Tahiti. Raiatea (the birthplace of Maori civilisation) is the second largest island in French Polynesia after Tahiti. Tahaa is smaller but just as mountainous, and its border of motus are the ideal setting for both small and large resorts.
