About Bora Bora
Bora Bora must surely be one of the most well-known tropical destinations in the world ... romantic, exotic, and beautiful. It is a popular French Polynesian holiday destination for thousands of world travellers each year. The climate is typically " tropical South Pacific ", comprising two main seasons. These are a cooler, drier season from around May - October ('winter'), and a wetter, warmer season (from November to April (' summer '). The high season is the winter season as there is less chance of tropical downpours and the temperature is more moderate. However, there is still plenty of sunshine during the summer months! In fact, if the higher humidity does not concern you, accommodation is usually cheaper during this season and it can be easier to get Bora Bora special deals. It is also often easier to get round and about on the trips and tours. Cyclones are more likely to occur in the summer months - however, historically French Polynesia appears to have fewer cyclones than some other similar tropical destinations.
Bora Bora French Polynesia
Bora Bora island is located in the Society Isles of French Polynesia and about This tropical island paradise is of volcanic origin and the main island rises majestically in picturesque craggy peaks. Surrounding the island is a large coral lagoon, with fringing coral reef along which are small islets or ' motu '. Resorts are found both on the main island of Bora Bora, as well as on some of the larger motu.
As a result of its origins, there is not much in the way of indigenous land mammals, but in the seas surrounding Bora Bora is a wide variety of marine creatures that delight the visitor year after year. These include turtles, sharks, manta rays and the ever-popular dolphin. These, combined with a myriad of tropical fish and colourful reefs, make Bora Bora diving vacations attractive to scuba divers. For those who do not dive, over water bungalow accommodation in Bora Bora makes it easy for visitors to be mesmerised by a kaleidoscope of fish swimming below their place of stay. There are also glass bottom boat trips, and snorkeling in Bora Bora is of course very popular.
